Night Racing
Long exposure shows the cars lapping for 13 hours of darkness

It’s 9:02am and we’re running P3. Lots has happened since last night. The lead Porsche rolled on the back straight after contact with the SSF BMW. The Hankook BMW came out at lap 440 with a rear wheel bearing failure and packed it up. Around 8:30pm, our car came in with no brake pads. We had worn through about 1mm of the backing plate in the rear! In a mad scramble to change the brakes, the Pagid endurance pads we had were too thick for the prototype StopTech brake setup and we had to find a set of Pagid sprint pads instead. …

Whew, a pretty long day so far. Some near giant problems that, through the skills of many talented and resourceful people, have been turned into minor problems dealt with in seconds at each pit stop.
Saturday, 9:00am – Hectic morning finishing up various mechanical tasks, a few more contingency sponsor stickers, getting the car tech’d and prepping for grid. The schedule is tight and missing the window means we would start behind the rest of the cars instead of 4th place. ESX crew fills up the Indy fueling rig and gets us ready for lightning-fast pit stops. This professional fuel rig will allow us to put 25 gallons of fuel in the car in under
