Happy Birthday to Me

On NYE I turned 31. I didn’t think it was so bad until I was filling out a form and had to check the 31-40 box. Ugh!

After a 12 hour bus ride north, the rain finally stopped and we were ready to hit the beach! We arrived in Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday Islands just off the coast. Contrary to its name however, there’s no beach in Airlie Beach, only a man-made lagoon. The lagoon is actually pretty nice and you don’t have to worry about the stingers. First, we apologize for slacking on the blog entries. We’ve been pretty busy here in Australia and are just now making the time to catch up. A few quick notes on some other sites we visited in New Zealand. Just before we left we headed to the Coromandel Peninsula for some beach time. We went to Cathedral Cove and did some hiking and then went to Hot Water Beach. Two hours before and after low tide, you can dig yourself a spa at Hot Water Beach. Just below the beach are thermal springs and as you dig in the sand, the hole fills with hot water. Sometimes it’s boiling hot water, so you …
